GORILLA TREKKING EXPRESS
Bwindi Impenetrable is a park located South western Uganda. It is often referred to as Impenetrable forest as well as perceived to be a Mountain Gorilla sanctuary even though it has more than ten other species of primates e.g. chimpanzees, Columbus monkeys, baboons among others. Bwindi Impenetrable also encompass one of the richest areas in Africa for flora and fauna. Gorilla trackers are advised to be patient and prepared to scramble through more bushes than would be necessary since the gorillas are not habituated to human contact.
Day 1: An early morning start from Kampala takes you southwest and across the Equator. You drive through Savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. You then ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”, with terraced farming and mountain scenery. Drive through to the gorilla sanctuary. Overnight at you Gorilla Forest Camp or in one of the bandas in the forest, L,D.
Day 2: An early rise being the best time to enjoy the beauty and freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the guides, proceed through dense bush to trek for these endangered animals. Other primates living in the forest include the black-and-white Columbus monkey, red tail monkey and chimpanzee. Return to your Luxury Camp or Banda dinner and overnight, B,L,D.
Day 3: After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with an en route lunch at Lake View Hotel in Mbarara, B,L.
NOTE: Remember to bring with you heavy leather gloves, stout hiking boots, rain poncho, long sleeve shirts, long pants, a light back pack, and water-bottle.
